HISTORIC CITY CEMETERY/CAPITOL PARK TOURS

On Monday, May 25th, 2009, the Elk Grove Civil War Round Table and the Union Veterrans Union, Inc. gathered together to do two Civil War Tours. At 10am, we began our traditional Civil War Veterans Tour at Historic City Cemetery which included 10 stops at sites throughout the cemetery. Approx. 75 people walked the cemetery with us.

At 12 noon, we met on the east steps of the Capitol for our first ever tour of the Memorial Grove. This 1897 Union Veterans Memorial is made up of trees brought from Civil War Battlefields in honor of those who fought to save the Union. A good turn out of approx. 50 people joined us for a very interesting and educational tour.
